April 2026 – Cummins Inc., a global leader in power technology, has completed the delivery and commissioning of 14 units of C2250D5E high-voltage diesel generator sets for the first-phase large-scale data center cluster of China Radio and Television Group (CRTG) in Zhongwei, Ningxia, a core node of China’s national East-West Data Computing Project.
Zhongwei City in northwest Ningxia has rapidly developed into a national cloud computing and data center hub, relying on cool climate advantages and abundant renewable energy resources. The CRTG Western Cloud Base project has a total planned investment exceeding 10 billion RMB, covering 9 professional data centers with a total of 12,096 high-power server racks, undertaking national-level media computing and data storage tasks. As the core guarantee of the data center’s power safety, the standby power system requires ultra-high reliability to achieve absolute zero downtime during grid outages.
Cummins adopted a mature N+1 redundant power architecture for this project. The C2250D5E high-power generator set is built on the classic QSK60 engine platform, featuring ultra-fast load response speed, stable operation under 100% full load and 110% overload conditions, and strong adaptability to high temperature, dust and complex working environments. All units pass strict full-load continuous operation testing before delivery, equipped with intelligent remote monitoring controllers and full safety protection functions including over-speed, low oil pressure and high water temperature alarm and automatic shutdown.
In addition to equipment supply, Cummins also provided integrated services including on-site installation guidance, system debugging, acceptance testing and long-term after-sales maintenance support. With its global service network and localized spare parts reserve system, Cummins can provide rapid technical response and parts supply services for the data center throughout its whole lifecycle.
