Cummins Inc. (NYSE: CMI) has officially rolled out the QSK78-powered generator set series tailored exclusively for the global 50Hz power market, further enriching its award-winning Centum™ high-horsepower stationary generator lineup. The new high-power genset is specially optimized for data centers, large-scale hospitals, industrial parks and grid backup projects with ultra-high reliability requirements.
Built around the 78-liter V18 QSK78 heavy-duty engine platform, the generator set delivers a standby power output covering 3200kVA to 3750kVA, with a prime continuous power rating up to 3400kVA. It achieves an industry-leading 100% full load step acceptance within 10 seconds, fully complying with the strict NFPA 110 Tier 1 emergency power standard, which guarantees zero power interruption for core facilities during grid outages.
The integrated aftertreatment system meets EU Stage V and EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards simultaneously, while the optimized cooling system supports stable full-load operation under an ambient temperature of up to 50°C, adapting to high-temperature working conditions in Africa, the Middle East and Southeast Asia. All core components including the engine, alternator and PowerCommand® intelligent controller are fully self-developed and manufactured by Cummins, realizing one-stop whole-machine quality control and global unified after-sales service support.
“The launch of the QSK78 genset fills the gap in our high-power 50Hz product layout. We can now provide customers with a complete power solution ranging from small backup units to ultra-large capacity prime power equipment,” said the Global Product Director of Cummins Power Generation. “The Centum series has always focused on compact power density and long-term low total operation cost, and the QSK78 model inherits this core advantage perfectly.”

Cummins also confirmed that the QSK78 generator set supports parallel operation of up to 32 units, which can form a large-capacity modular microgrid system together with energy storage equipment to help global clients realize stable off-grid power supply and energy transition layout.
